Excursion to Russian capitals:
Moscow and Saint Petersburg


A short tour for those who travel to Russia for the first time. We will get to the heart of Russian culture by visitting the center of Moscow, Kremlin, and its world famous museums like Tretyakov Gallery and Pushkin Museum. We will also stroll around the historical center of the city where every building and every sight is a piece of art with hundred years history. After that a luxurious train will bring us from Moscow to Saint Petersburg – so-called cultural capital of Russia. Here we will accommodate in the very center of the city nearby Hermitage museum which was serving as Winter Palace for Russian tsars (kings) until 1918. During few days in S.-Petersburg we will visit Hermitage as one of the best collection of world art, Petrodvorets (Summer Palace) and its gardens on the cost of the Gulf of Finland, drawbridges of the city as well as many other interesting places.


Day 1

Arrival to Moscow. Transfer to hotel. Welcoming dinner. If time permits we go for an evening stroll either to Red Square or View point at Moscow University.

Day 2

Full day of sightseeing in Moscow. We take subway or taxi to Red Square – the historical and cultural centre of the city located in front of Kremlin. We take pictures with the view of the medieval Saint Vasiliy cathedral, then we enter the Kremlin itself. Kremlin is a castle with different buildings inside, the residence of Russian tsars till 1700s and now it serves as an office for the Russian president. We visit Armoury Chamber inside Kremlin and old churches. After leaving Kremlin, we will go to visit Saint Vasiliy cathedral – the unique medieval building made of stone. After lunch in one of the cafes around, we can visit the famous mausoleum with the open tomb of Lenin. In the evening we walk down from Red Square along the bank of Moscow river to the new cathedral of Jesus the Savior.

Day 3

Today we try to wake up early and after breakfast we go to the famous Tretyakov Gallery – the biggest collection of Russian art. It takes at least few hours to study all the exhibitions in the impressive gallery. Upon leaving the gallery we can eat lunch in the museum cafe and then after lunch we will go the street called old Arbat where we can stroll for an hour, buy Russian souvenirs and enjoy the performance of street musicians or get a portrait of yourselves drawn by a street artist.

Day 4

Today we will go to North-East of the city to the  Museum of Cosmonautics of Yuriy Gagarin – a museum dedicated to space and space crafts and the first astranaut of the planet Yuriy Gagrin. In the afternoon we will go back to the city center – this time we need to explore the biggest and the main street of Moscow called Tverskaya street built by Stalin in 1930s. Back in that time it was called Kalinin Prospekt. Here you will assess the architecture in the style of Socialist realism as well as the most expensive shops and restaurants around. In the evening by the request of guests, we can go for a concert of classic music in the State Conservatory, or to Bolshoi theatre for opera/ballet show, or to one of modern live music clubs in Moscow centre.

Day 5

After breakfast we will slowly travel to Leningradsky train station of Moscow from where we take an express train to Saint Petersburg. We will take our comfortable seats in business calss carriage to enjoy 5 hours journey over 700 km landscapes between two capitals. Lunch in the train. In the afternoon we will arrive to the Northern capital of Russia – Saint Peterburg where will check-in to a hotel in the very heart of this city. You can recognize the names of the streets around if you read the books of Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky. In the evening we will walk along Neva river and can see the famous ceremony of drawbridges spliting apart for night time. And we will walk to the cathedral of Kazanskaya Holy Mother and will enjoy its wonderful architecture designed by Italian artists in the 18th century. Dinner in a restaurant.

Day 6

After breakfast we walk along Nevsy Prospekt towards the famous Hermitage museum where we need to spend at least few hours to explore the wonderful collection of the world art. The building served in the past as the winter residence of Russian emperors. After lunch in one of the restaurants of the city center you will have free time to enjoy the walk around Saint Petersburg avenues.

Day 7

Today after early breakfast we drive out of the city on our private bus to Petrodvorets museum – the big complex containing the Summer Palace of tsars and a garden in French style of the 18th century. We will spend full day here which is not enough for such a big place. First we can assess the greatness of the palace from inside with its multiple chambers decorated in European and Asian styles by Peter the Great designers. Then we walk along alleys of the garden surrounded by the sculptures of Italian masters of the 18th c. In the evening having been absolutely exhausted by the day walk, we will drive back to our hotel in the city.

Day8 8

Morning flight from Pulkovo airport of Saint Petersburg to Domodedovo airport of Moscow. The flight will take less than an hour. From Domodedovo international aiport you will depart back home. The memories, souvenirs and a portrait of yourself drawn by a Russian paintist will be taken by you from Russia.
